Meghan’s Story

One word to describe her: Passionate

Meghan is 16 years old and living in Middle, Tennessee.  She recently started driving, and loves Ballet.  She attends school online, and most of the time you can find her dancing at Nashville Ballet. Her dream for the future is to be a professional Ballerina.

Meghan received services at Easterseals for Sensory Integration Disorder and low muscle tone.  She received physical, occupational and feeding therapy, and took her first steps after a physical therapy appointment.  She had been doing an assisted treadmill exercise, and then took these first unassisted steps right around her 2nd birthday.

To Meghan and her family, inclusion means everyone gets the opportunity to try and the resources they need to be successful, to the best of their ability. For their family, being empowered means having the knowledge you need about your options and resources.

Her mom shares that there have been many moments where Meghan has felt empowered (“many she may not even remember!”). She states that “I remember when she first used some of the strategies she had been taught, to deal with sensory issues, without prompting.  Meghan has aimed for some high goals in the dance world and has done amazing things.  She recently danced the role of Blue Bird in her Academy showcase.”

Meghan’s hard work and determination have taken her far, and her grace and talent ensure that she will fulfill all of her dreams.
