One word to describe her: Joy
Maggie is a 10 year old fifth grader who enjoys taking dance classes, playing basketball, listening to music, and singing. She loves supporting the Bradley University women’s basketball team and volleyball team and eating Uncle Bob’s ice cream. She is a happy-go-lucky girl who has blessed many lives with her humor, strength, care and love.
For Maggie and her family, inclusion is something that everyone has a right to without asking for it. In her family, Maggie is included in everything she wants to do, and everything they do together. She is valued, respected, and loved for her strengths and for her weaknesses.
Maggie has faced times at school, social events, and during sports where she has not been included because it was believed that she “couldn’t do it.” What people often neglect to see is just how much Maggie can do. Maggie is empowered every day. At school, dance recitals, community events, playing with friends, and even winning gold at the Special Olympics Summer Games. She is challenged with daily tasks many take for granted, but she never gives up. She is empowered to succeed to gain independence.
She is loved and supported by many, and she will move mountains.
