Avah’s Story

One word to describe her: Joyful.

Avah is the happiest 4th grader in McLean County!  With a smile that could light up the world, Avah spends her days crafting, beading, and listening to Taylor Swift, swimming, running, and enjoying other outdoor activities.  Avah also enjoys painting, and 2020 will be the 4th year she’s painted a piece for Easterseals’ Grape Soirée.  She collects America Girl Dolls, and like most almost 10 year old girls, likes everything pink, purple, and sparkly (if a unicorn is involved it’s even better!).

Avah has many dreams for the future.  She wants to go to Disneyland to meet her favorite princesses, Rapunzel and Elsa.  She wants to visit her stepdad’s Navy Destroyer in San Diego. She wants to see the ocean for the first time.  She wants to graduate college and meet lots of new people.  She is a confident hard worker, and dreams of having a career as an Art Teacher.  Her family wants her to always be celebrated for who she is and always fly high, because she is able to do anything she puts her mind to.

To Avah and her family, inclusion is a universal human right for all people, irrespective of race, gender, ability or medical needs.  Avah’s family wants her to have equal opportunities as her neurotypical peers, and have the empowerment to know she is the one solely in control of her destiny.

With her hardworking and joyful spirit, it is certain that Avah will make all of her dreams a reality.
